Three main considerations:

1. Code Requirements

2. Available Equipment (power end use and distribution equipment)

3. Losses

Low Voltage DC:

Below 50V, the voltage does not pose a risk and does not require a electrical inspection.    Common voltages include 12VDC, 24VDC, 48VDC

Main Voltage DC

380VDC is used for power distribution within data centers.  There is quality equipment available.
